Things to try this week:
Yams and sweet potatoes are often confused, and deeply swappable. This recipe calls for either! It’s a warm salad with yam, zucchini, and chickpeas, with a tahini dressing.
Alternately, roast the yam in a 450 degree oven until a knife enters without resistance (think baked potato) and top with butter, canned beans of preference, green onion, and maybe a little cheese? Or the everything bagel seasoning for our friends who bought a holiday basket?
If you’ve still got a sweet tooth to satisfy, but want a change of pace from the traditional holiday fare, I offer this Zucchini bread. With ginger and lemon and poppy seeds, it flirts with a lot of traditional styles, but also just sounds delicious.
